Ripon only today!

I’ve made a decision not to work with the racing at Hamilton today as the ground up there is very much an unknown quantity and I do not want to be sitting here guessing what on earth is actually happening at that track. It will ride “gluey” up there and I’m not getting involved myself, so I will definitely not be offering advice on races that might then tempt you in.

So, we’ll just work with Ripon, who yesterday put us away with their updated going description, telling us it was “good to soft” in places. Joe Fanning got off one winner there and advised those watching on TV that, “there is no “good” in that ground!” It was clearly very hard work and I felt we dodged a bullet there, with my rated races.

The opening race on the card should see a small profit cleared if one of WINTER POWER or RISK OF THUNDER takes that 1-00pm event. Evens and 2/1 though so, your profit won’t have the layers quaking in their boots.

You have a Seller next….CHICHLOUI has been backed from 4/1 > 11/4 but my guess would be someone had a fiver e.w. and the trading rooms went into a muck sweat. I’d not bet on such races even if my life depended on it.

I’m seeing three attracting support at 2-00….but this has looked a wierd market since it opened, with horses drifting, then being backed in again. OLYMPIC CONQUEROR, the tissue favourite, opened 11/4, went 7/2 and is now back in to 5/2.

SMEATON opened 13/2, went 7/1, is now 112 and if I had to point to one being “backed” it would be MIKMAK, who opened 11/1 last night and is now 15/2.

I’ll just work my top three to a dutch and que sera, sera.

Two have come out since I fired my Newsletter off this morning in the 2-30pm, and one of those is my top rated! All we have seen since then are markets adjusting and so I’ll just play what are now my top three by virtue of “natural progression” to a dutch and again, leave it to Doris Day.

My next rated race at 3-00pm has seen the one I have sitting third best on the Post Racing Ratings, LA VOIX MAGIQUE punted from 5/1 > 7/2 favourite and so again, I’ll just work my numbers to a dutch and take on the chin, what comes of it.

The juvenile race at 3-30pm sees a static market, save for a slight drift by the favourite, PYTHAGORAS. He opened 6/4 and now trades 15/8. Not a race I’m personally interested in from a punting perspective.

The best race of the day goes off at 4-00pm and we are seeing plenty of money for ABEL HANDY….6/1 > 3/1….rates ninth best in this, on my figures and the ground would be a concern, if it is still as was described when my Newsletter went out.

I’m also seeing high drawn horses best here and he runs from four.

I’ll introduce the horse into a four horse dutch to cover my back though, as O’Meara has started having winners again, following a cold spell. Thing is, I have this open to one of nine based on my figures so it’s all about my having nailed it from that perspective.

They finish this meeting with a Class 6 Stayers race and if they put hurdles in front of them, I might have considered getting involved but this shower are a truly horrible bunch and I’d not bet if you gave me the money to have a go at it.

Best of luck this afternoon and let’s hope for some better racing to work with as the week goes on.
