Well, what can we say about today? A little hit-and-miss, I must admit. The next best and each-way selections were poor if I say so myself, but the Nap saved my bacon at a lovely price of 9-2. I think I know we were all saying “Good girl Zoey”, as she cruised into the lead in Galway. I am hoping to give you all another brilliant day with backing horses today.
This will be my last article of the remaining week. I have had a great run but it is important to recharge the batteries to ensure consistency when tipping winners.
The Nap of the day will be Traceysenniscorthy at the tasty price of 7-2 in the 3.50. It all depends where you are betting. If the value for each-way is there he is well worth backing each-way but, as always, make sure to check the fractions to ensure sure the price is right!
There is no doubt that if he returns here in the same form as the previous season, he is acres above the rest in terms of natural talent. All you have to look at his form. A string of ones and a second in his last run. He is born to win.
The price is about right however. He climbed the handicap ladder massively last year. He is still battling with being 10lb wrong in the handicap. Oakley Brown who is another rising star takes 7lbs off however. He can easily find the 3lbs in ability and take some stopping coming into the straight.
Another interesting fact, the saying of “horses for courses” comes in to play. With its three runs here, he has won twice and finished third once. That’s a 66% win rate and a 100% strike rate for place bets and the 7-2 is a simply crazy price.
We are going to move the next best in the form of Arthur’s Baby at 10-3, running in the 2.45.
This is interesting how the price is so large. Like the Nap last year, Arthur’s Baby has been a revelation this season.
A strong stayer that is making a name for himself by cruising up half a mile from home to challenge strongly, this season especially. Michael McNiff is a man enjoying brilliant success, so it would be hard to see this going any other way than Arthur’s Baby and 10-3 is another great price.
The each-way selection is going to be Whereyounow, at a price of 5-1 running in the 2.15. This looks like a very safe bet.
The horse had a promising debut run for the season to open up the pipes. He should be fit for a winnable race now. It is weighted nicely, and with a top jockey on board in the form of Sean Flanagan it is always a plus.
The favourite looks good and is deserving favourite. I just feel at the price it is trading at, it is worth taking it on. Especially considering it looks weighed to be beaten. This one at an each-way price looks safe as houses, while also having a chance of turning the tables.
