Eight races at Wetherby dissected and we have a massive “mover”!

Just the lone NH meeting at Wetherby to look over and in the opener at 1-52pm, we now have a horse attracting a little attention in the marketplace. Until I’ve seen these horses jump a hurdle in public I myself would not bet a bean but it looks like MIDNIGHTS LEGACY (9/4 > 15/8), is expected to emulate others in the family and become a useful dual purpose horse.

FIRST IMPRESSION is also seemingly expected to make the grade, too 9/4 > 2/1 with everything else on the drift.

Both were decent on the flat, FIRST IMPRESSION a winner of three of his eight races on the flat, including a Class 2 so, if he can jump, he’s obviously got the ability to take this.

2-25 – Now, this is funky. I’m seeing one being absolutely mullahed in the betting, ROB THE GETAWAY 66/1 > 16/1. This morning Post Racing subscribed members were advised ONE NIGHT IN MILAN had been popular overnight 5/1 > 3/1….now 10/3 but still strong.

This huge gamble has not raced under rules for 880 days (he won his Bumper at Aintree), and last ran 318 days ago in a PTP.

Welcome to the middle of October!

I’ll just watch what happens.

3-00 – The market appears to suggest one of ASK A HONEY BEE or LORD APPARELLI wins this. No “moves” for either as such, more a case of the rest not fancied at all, everything on the drift.

3-35 – Division II of the Novice Hurdle and here it’s a little more livelier with regards the tissue. However, it’s all about the front three on this betting front – VALLERES 4/1 > 11/4, notified to my subscribed members this morning, MARTINHAL 3/1 > 10/3 > 7/2 > 10/3, and KILBROOK 4/1 > 9/2 > 4/1 > 7/2.

Everything left is drifting badly, including the £150,000 Hobbs runner, ACROSS THE CHANNEL, who opened 4/1 and is freely available around 11/2 now.

4-10 – The first of my rated races here and we have four running having had a wind-op, two of those going second time following that procedure, and two of the four wearing first time headgear.

Two were introduced to my members as OMM’s this morning but both have now slightly drifted….nothing drastic, but that are now half a point bigger.

STORM CONTROL is now the one for money, 11/1 > 8/1….he’s consistent enough over fences, nine previous runs over them producing two wins, and two placed efforts.

I guess if you were playing you could now go a Dutch three?

4-45 – This rated poorly….but it’s not a bad looking race. The majority of these are returning after their summer break, eight of the 11 runners been absent in excess of 200 days so you would be right to expect a big run from TEESCOMPONENTS LAD, who was given a pipe opener 21 days ago, on ground to fast for him. He ran fourth in this last season on debut so you can see their thinking this time around. The horses trainer is 2-8 in the last 14 days and this is the highest rated hurdler in her yard.

I’d be tempted 20/80.

5-15 – Very competitive and I’m extremely confident my figures have this bang to rights.

We had nothing attracting punters in overnight but now three appear to be bubbling to the surface, two of those in my top three rated.

  • DESTINED TO SHINE – 9/2 > 4/1 > 7/2 > 4/1
  • ZIZANEUR – 6/1 > 13/2 > 6/1 > 11/2
  • AMOOLA GOLD – 8/1 > 15/2 > 7/1 > 13/2 > 6/1

The first named runs second time following a wind-op and is trained like that “mover” in the 4-10pm, by Kerry Lee….won easily at Uttoxeter just over a week ago but is up in the weights and this is definitely more competitive….but he arrives with that run under his belt, unlike the next four on the tissue who have not been seen for 226 days, 229 days, 348 days and 252 days.

My top rated is ZIZANEUR but by crikey you’ll be watching him from behind the couch if you punt it. Form figures reading U, U, P, U, 5….do they fill you with confidence? He would most likely have won two of those races he failed to complete….but one you punt whilst on your knees, chanting.

You would definitely need to be considering the dutch here.

5-45 – Plenty of money here for PROSCHEMA since my morning Newsletter went out to my Post Racing subscribers. That one is in addition to OAKLEY, who was in that OMM’s section in that Newsletter having been punted 5/1 > 3/1….now 11/4.

PROSCHEMA has been supported from 10/3 > 2/1 and the market wants nothing to do with anything but that pair. Exotics?

Philip Hobbs sends a battalion up from his base in Somerset (500 mile round trip), and I imagine it’s OAKLEY they are expecting to pay for the diesel as it’s his hurdlers that traditionally do better for him at this track. Having said that, he’s 4-9 with non-handicappers in that sphere which would definitely make ACROSS THE CHANNEL interesting, despite the drift.

Best of luck!
