COVENTRY V ROTHERHAM
Both sides are struggling right now, the home side sitting 19th in the league, Rotherham 20th. They have only met four times in the league so far and it’s currently 2-1 to Rotherham, the other game drawn.
Coventry are playing well enough at home though, winning two of their last three and drawing one, losing one, whilst on the road Rotherham have lost their last four and only scored in one of those games.
The home side are averaging 1.57 points per game at home, Rotherham 0.71 points away from their home ground.
I’m thinking a home win 1-0
STOKE V MIDDLESBOROUGH
Both sides doing ok, Stoke are 8th in the league, Boro 10th, just a single point difference. Eight previous meetings and it currently stands at 4-2 to Boro, two games drawn.
Boro seem to be looking to play it tight and have scored just 14 goals so far, compared to Stokes 20. Stoke have conceded twice as many goals as Boro though 18-9.
Stoke have scored 12 goals in their last five homes games, and average 1.57 points per game on their own ground, whilst Boro average a point a game away from home.
I’m fancying a 1-1 draw
PLYMOUTH V IPSWICH
The away side sit 5th in the league, just four points off the top of the league but they are not there because of their away form. Plymouth are 13th in the league and they are only there because of their form at home. They average 1.75 goals per game on their own turf whilst Ipswich manage 1.29 goals.
In previous games between them it’s 1-1 with two drawn and I think this will be very tight as well. The home side concedes just 1.38 goals per game at home and Ipswich concede 1.29 and in 80% of games between them to date we have had +1.5 goals.
I fancy another 1-1 draw.
SHREWSBURY V CHARLTON
Charlton are riding high in the league, fourth and just four points off top spot. The home team really are struggling this season and sit next to bottom of the league. It looks like they have given us a nap for the competition this week.
Shrewsbury have drawn three and lost two of their last five home games whilst Charlton are fizzing along on the road winning three and drawing one of the last five.
These two teams have met nine times and it’s 5-4 to the home team, not a draw as yet and I don’t expect one on Saturday either as I think Shrewsbury will struggle to break Charlton down. The away team don’t set out to batter teams, merely win. They average 1.5 goals per game on the road but take an average 2 points per game.
Shrewsbury get 1.17 goals per home game and manage to secure just 0.5 points per home game.
I fancy a 2-0 away win for Charlton
HARROGATE V FOREST GREEN
The home side sit 15th in the league, Forest Green doing better, fourth and just four points off the top of the league.
These two teams have never met before.
I think we might be looking at another draw here as neither is consistent at home, or away and the home team average of 2.4 goals per game on their own turf, is a shade better than that of Forest Green, who average 2.27 when they play away from home.
The home side take less than one point per game at home (0.86), compared to the 1.75 points per game of Forest Green, on the road. That is a 103% better average than the home team but, given the inconsistency of both teams in recent games, I’m saying draw 1-1
SCUNTHORPE V LEYTON ORIENT
This game kicks off at 1-00pm so get your entry in handy.
Scunthorpe are 19th in the league and Orient are doing ok, sitting 6th. On head to head count the home team are certs as they have met each other nine times and it’s 6-2 to the home team with just one draw.
Scunthorpe seem to have a problem at home though. They have not won in four, losing three of those games, whilst Orient have won three of their last five on the road, losing the other two.
The home team are only averaging 0.67 goals per game and 0.83 points on their own pitch, Orient 1.38 away from home with an average of 1.63 points.
I fancy both sides will score here on Saturday and on current form I’ll say an away win, Orient 2-1
