Chepstow race and we’ll see some long faces if the “Grumpys” don’t win!

Chepstow has been cleared to race this afternoon byt I’m still not inclined to produce figures for that meeting. However, the markets have been moving and below you have the latest regarding that meeting and Catterick.

The picture I’ve used here is of a few of today’s runners having a look at the Chepstow track!

1-50 – It is the Chris Honour trained GRUMPY CHARLEY attracting the shekels this morning 7/4 > 6/5 everything else easing, some significantly so. This previous course and distance winner is proving very popular.

2-20 – You most definitely have a dutch to work with here as three have been well supported since the inspection was passed.

  • BUTTERWICK BROOK – 7/1 > 5/1
  • COLONEL KEATING 13/2 > 4/1
  • TERRIERMAN – 8/1 > 5/1

You might well find this market continues to fluctuate and it is well worth keeping an eye on BIG NASTY, too. After an initial drift they have started to nibble on this bone.

Of that trio I’d be inclined to think TERRIERMEN is strongest. I’d still have a problem supporting a Tizzard runner, despite the yard having it’s first winner of the year yesterday.

2-50 – YOUNG BUCK is long odds on with nothing being supported to beat it. You know me and odds on shots in novice events and this is a race to watch only.

3-20 – When I first checked this race out the market was dormant but in the last few minutes they have really come for CUCKLINGTON 12/1 > 6/1, and that ex-Tizzard horse would be a 20/80 here….no more than that and small staking, too. The front pair on the tissue, HOLDBACKTHERIVER and ALMINAR are not weak and you might also consider a dutch three instead. That may make more sense come 3-30pm.

3-50 – Again we have three being well supported here:

  • EASY AS THAT – 11/4 > 15/8
  • PRIDE OF LECALE – 13/2 > 9/2
  • EAMON AN CNOIC – 25/1 > 14/1

Without a doubt the best supported of the three is EASY AS THAT so, if you just fancy a solo punt, that’s the one.

4-20 – I had seen a bit of an e.w. move for MAHLER’S FIRST, 20/1 > 10/1 but that has now eased out again, 12/1 available. Nothing in this race is doing anything other than fluctuate and so for punting purposes, best left to the needy and greedy.

4-50 – We started with a grumpy being supported and it’s the stablemate GRUMPY FREYA 12/1 > 6/1 being supported to provide a grumpy double. Money too for LANDEN CALLING – 11/1 > 11/2 but Bumpers are always like this….some go in, most do not.

1-00 – Nothing attracting support here. The favourite is strong, a rock solid 6/4 and if anything the second and third favourite could be described as easy to back. I’d think connections expect HOMME PUBLIC to go one better than on his first two runs, wearing a tongue tie for the first time.

1-30 – The Henry Oliver trained K’CHOU DU PECOS AA is 15/2 > 9/2 but PALIXANDRE is still strong @ 5/1. They are not letting SHALLOW RUN ease out, either. The second they went 7/2 the snipers were on it….back in to 10/3 favourite.

The dutch three looks most likely to yield the profit.

2-00 – My figures for this race now look exceptionally strong, my top three rated now heading the tissue with money for my second highest rated since the Newsletter went out this morning.

2-30 – The second of my two Rated races from this track and, whilst my top rated is still solid at 9/4, the horse for money is CARROLLS MILAN 7/2 > 9/4 and the one most likely to go off favourite. Dutch that one with WHATSDASTORY.

3-00 – We have 16 going to post but it’s a two horse race, RIPPER ROO 10/11, BARRICHELLO 11/8, and now 16/1 bar that pair. Never a race I’d be interested in for betting purposes.

3-30 – Another Olly Murphy trained favourite and supported to give him another winner (he trains RIPPER ROO in that previous race). He opened 11/4 and is now 7/4….it’s then 7/1 bar.

Both KINGS CAVE 16/1 > 8/1 and NEWBERRY NEW 16/1 > 8/1 are also being backed to e.w. money with the last named the stronger of the two. It’s a Class 5 so do not expect to see a superstar here but NEWBERRY NEW might land a place bet for you, if you have to get involved.

4-05 – The morning second avourite has been taken out here so all I’m currently seeing are fluctuations…although I must admit, it does make DONLADD look a very strong favourite now….9/4 and it’s then 7/1 bar.

A Class 5 Conditionals race is never going to be a race I get all frisky for though, even on my birthday!

Best of luck!
