For The Fun Punters! 11/06/21

That’s two £50 Placepots landed in four days. Not to be sneezed at.

At the end of June this section will become part of the Donators package. If you register for the Free Newsletter, you’ll be getting full details on what Donators receive in return for their generosity in the very near future.

Sticking to the Placepot theme and thinking that York is impossible and Sandown not far behind it, I’m looking to Chepstow for The Fun Punters Placepot. I’m not going to create a perm that goes top heavy and we’ll keep this one small as it’s not classy racing and we’ve a couple of races ripe for shocks…the 1-25 and the 3-10.

1-25 – A 12 runner, Class 6, that has no history to it and so we need to trust to the market and seeking out any potential draw bias. I’m thinking we need to be drawn middle/high here so anything racing from stalls 1, 2, 3 and 4 might have a job on. It doesn’t mean they cannot place but winning will definitely be tough. Having said that, those drawn to run well would appear to have their advantage wasted on them, because they are moose.

The market is very positive about ZULU GIRL, a winner last time out….7/2 > 5/2 and drawn four. In the perm I was initially thinking I might want three here but I’ll have just that one. If it dips out, we go again tomorrow.

2-00 – Trends indicate we need a horse in the front three on the tissue, carrying more than 9st and aged 4, 5 or 6. With just five going to post we need to place 1-2 so with that in mind I’m going to advise we use GAMBON and KING OF TONGA. It is 5/1 bar that pair and despite a mover overnight for WOODCOCK, I’m thinking this pair are going to produce at least one of the front two home.

2-35 – I think we might have a weak favourite here in PENYWERN TAVERNER. Haggas has only sent one juvenile to run here in the last five seasons, and it flopped. I’ve a sneaking feeling this horse has come as a travelling companion for SEA LA ROSA, who runs in the 4-20….Haggas has a superb 38% strike rate with 3-y-o non-handicap runners here and I’ll have that in as a Banker further down this piece.

By comparison, Balding has sent just nine juveniles here in the last five years and won with two of them. That makes ATTACHE interesting for Placepot purposes.

3-10 – Three previous running’s of this and the winner has always been front three on the tissue, and always carried more than 9st. I think that, despite there being only eight runners, we might need three onside and looking at my Ratings, allied to market position, GILT EDGE has to be “in”. If one outside the front three on the current tissue is to hit the frame, it is likely to be PASTFACT. His Chepstow form figures read 2, 6, 1, 5, 9, 1, 1

He ran third to GILT EDGE last time out, drawn badly, going off 18/1, but running on at the end. He might well reverse form this time.

They are my top two rated horses.

If I add a third here, it would be previous CD winner BEZZAS LAD. Every horse in this race I can find reasons to lay, this one because it is currently 0-4 ground and racing off a 6lb higher mark than it has won off before but the rest are just as bad.

3-45 – This race is now down to five runners but I’m going to introduce just EQUALLY FAST into the perm here. If this had been run tomorrow, I’d have selected FLIP MODE, who did us a turn recently, as he is officially 4lb well in with EQUALLY FAST in 24 hours time. They recently finished 1st and 2nd six days ago, and on these terms I must believe EQUALLY FAST gains his revenge….who today is 5lb better off for a short head beating.

4-20 – SEA OF ROSA is a Banker selection in this five runner event. Having opened second favourite behind the Gosden runner RED SQUARE, he has been supported into favouritism 15/8 > 6/4 and so I’ll suggest we just utilise that one here.

  • LEG 1 – 1
  • LEG 2 – 1, 2
  • LEG 3 – 1
  • LEG 4 – 3, 4, 7
  • LEG 5 – 2
  • LEG 6 – 5

Best of luck!
