For The Fun Punters – 13/06/21

I thought I’d add a little more to this today, as we were blank yesterday and here are the names of two horses catching my eye.

I have had a look at the other races on the cards at Doncaster and Salisbury and in the Doncaster 2-15pm, I’m half expecting an improved showing from SIR LELO. Dascombe has loaded two onto the horse box and sent Jane Elliott  to ride both. She has a 25% strike rate at Donny, nine rides for Dascombe yielding three winners. His record with juveniles at the track is poor (1-31 over the last five seasons), but I’m finding it difficult to believe their winner might be the other she rides, WELSH WAYNE (66/1), in the 2-45pm. SIR LELO might be worth a 20/80 at the current odds of 14/1.

At Salisbury just ALERTA ROJA, in the 5-10pm race, is catching my eye. Sir Mark Prescott is flying right now (60% strike rate with six winners from his last 10 runners), and he very rarely sends horses here, just 15 in the last five years. However, he won with four of them, three of those four were three year old handicappers, and two of those were ridden by today’s jockey, Ryan Tate….no smoke without fire…. usually. This looks a typical Prescott Plot….three runs as a juveniles in the space of a month, all over seven furlongs on the sand at Kempton. One run on soft turf over a mile at Beverley this season (went off 100/1)….now up to 12 furlongs, trading favourite at around 10/3.

I’m also going to run up a Doncaster Placepot. Going nowhere near Salisbury as they start with a hands and heels race….no thank you!

1-45 – I’ll start with two here, both in my top three rated horses, both attracting market support and I’m hopeful at least one takes us forward. CAPLA BERRY / FLORENZA. Everything else here is drifting, it’s currently 13/2 bar that pair and if three beat both of that pair, I’ll give up for the day!

2-15 – A juvenile event which would not be given a second look where I not popping up Fun bets for you! The Godolphin debutante, PRIVATE SIGNAL, seems a strong favourite 7/4 > 11/8 but here I’ll go with one that has had a run, is equally interesting punters (15/8 > 13/8), and again, if this misses the frame, I’ll be surprised….ASWAN.

2-45 – All nine previous running’s of this have been won by by a 3-y-o and the last eight running’s have gone to either the favourite, or the second favourite. LINE OF DESCENT is a very strong favourite and again, we’ll rely on just this one to keep us going. His debut third is looking more than decent, the runner up that day having since won two on the bounce and the winner beaten less than six lengths in a Listee race next time out.

3-15 – A Rated race which is now down to five runners but we may need two of these running for us. I’ll definitely have my top rated horse, JAWWAAL but I’m also bringing in my bottom rated horse, MOUNTAIN PEAK. Ed Walker has sent this horse on a round trip of 330 miles and having drifted initially 5/2 > 3.1, it has been nibbled back in to 5/2. This is one race I’m wary of as any of the five remaining could win it, or place. That pair will do for me though.

3-45 – Yet another race in which we have to get one in the first two home. Right now, the best supported horse is HEADINGLEY, 4/1 >> 9/4 and it looks like they’ll need a sniper to keep him out of the two….in comes the Johnston horse.

4-15 – Only one previous running of this and it went to the favourite. With 10 runners I’m thinking I’ll have another pair here, the favourite, AKKERINGA, who has been well supported overnight 11/4 > 15/8, and a horse that has been supported at a huge price 22/1 > 11/1….NORTHBOUND.

Now with Julie Camacho, this horse was formerly in training with Hugo Palmer, who was happy to campaign this in Class 2 but only on good ground, on which it won, at Windsor in June last year.

Since Julie Camacho got it, she has run it on soft and heavy, and it got mullahed both times. Both races Class 4 and now, back on a quicker surface, in a Class 5, I can understand the punt.

  • LEG 1 – 7, 11
  • LEG 2 – 1
  • LEG 3 – 7
  • LEG 4 – 1, 3
  • LEG 5 – 2
  • LEG 6 – 3, 4
