Premier League betting advice for 08/02/22

I promised I’d say a few words about this current Prem season and why I have not been betting much. Truth is it’s been a season that has been ruined more by Covid than the previous one and that was bad enough. Some teams have hardly played this year, Burnley are bottom of the league and have 3 or 4 games in hand of some sides above them.

We have seen teamsheets changing in the hours before a kickoff as players tested positive and a good bit of what I do is based on player stats.

There have been 3 sides you could bet blind in City, Liverpool and Chelsea but the others are very inconsistent. I did the West Ham v Leeds game and that was a result that turned every stat on its head. The next week the same Leeds side played Newcastle at home and got beaten 1-0

At that point I said we’d stuff this for a game of soldiers and I have not had a bet on football since January 22nd.

Two teams tonight have new managers and new players so I wouldn’t be in a rush to have a bet on the game between Newcastle and Everton.

West Ham play Watford and the away side is on their millionth manager this season. The lack of any kind of stability there is crazy.

Looking at that game I’m seeing West Ham have won the last 4 Prem meetings between these 2, and have scored at least 3 goals in each of those games.

I mentioned that only 3 sides could be backed blind and this West Ham side has gone from being hard to beat, to now staring their 3rd consecutive defeat right in the face. A funny stat is that they’ve lost 3 games this season to goals scored in the last minute of a match and if by some fluke that happened tonight, they’d equal Watford’s record of 4 games lost like that.

The stablility thing at Watford is mad. The last 5 games they have won away from home, have all been achieved under 5 different managers!

Before they managed to get that 0-0 draw on Saturday against Burnley, they had used up 6 managers since they last kept a clean sheet.

Their problem this season has been stopping sides scoring against them. Last Saturday saw them keep the first clean sheet of the season. I cannot see them stopping the Hammers tonight, even if Antonio doesn’t play because he’s tired.

He is the only striker they have down there and do not seem to be able to play without one. Moyes has to sort that out but he couldn’t have an easier game tonight to work with so while I doubt they’ll score the usual 3 aginst Watford tonight, I expect them to win. Could be Antonio starts and gets an hour, or is benched, and gets the last 30 minutes

The Hammers have a cracking good record under floodlights and they have only lost 1 of the last 11 midweek Prem games and I’m thinking a 2-0 win tonight.

MY BET

  • WEST HAM TO WIN AND UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 11/4

The other game tonight is between Burnley and Man Utd. Anyone really fancying a bet on this? I cannot believe that Utd are sitting 4th in the Prem after the season they have had but it’s like I said earlier, this season only 3 teams can be trusted.

Burnley looked doomed this season, despite those games in hand. They have only won once all season but can you trust Utd to win there?

I think they should. Burnley have lost the last 5 at home against Utd, without finding the back of the net and since Utd binned Solskjaer they have won 6, drawn 3 and lost only 1 league game. They have also scored in every away game this season.

The best Utd stat I could find is that no side has won more games played on a Tuesday than they have. The 56 games played on this day have produced 34 wins but tonight they are trying to win 2 away games on the bounce for the first time this season.

I don’t see a lot of goals again because while Burnley cannot win games, they have drawn 10 of the 22 this season so I’ll go with the same bet again.

MY BET

  • MAN UTD TO WIN AND UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 11/4
