Man Utd v Brighton – 15/02/22

I’ll approach this lone game as usual and have done my paperwork which suggests a tight game.

There are only 7 points between Utd and Brighton in the league table right now and I cannot believe Utd are only 1 point off a Champions League place because they have been seriously poor this season. I said a couple of times recently that only 3 teams can be trusted to perform consistently and that really is making picking bets hard this season.

Brighton turn up tonight unbeaten in 7 and they have only lost 1 game on the road this season. No team has a better away defeats record in the league. But they have not won in Manchester in the last 19 games they have played against Utd or City.

I said last time that under Rangnick Utd simply do not play attacking football and they have managed just 1.4 goals per game under him. But they don’t lose at home in February, the last team to beat them in this month was City in 2008. They have won 18 of the 24 February games.

When they play in midweek Brighton don’t win. They have only won 2 of the 20 Prem games not played of a weekend.

I’m not sure what’s going to happen tonight but I couldn’t trust Utd to win but I don’t see them losing. I cannot fancy Brighton to win but struggle to see them losing if the stats are right about the game.

If Chelsea couldn’t beat Brighton home, or away, and Liverpool couldn’t beat them at Anfield, I cannot see Utd doing any better.
