Tuesday the Oaks No.1 for Ballydoyle on the Friday!

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has hailed his Cazoo Oaks favourite Tuesday as “amazing” as he bids to become the most successful trainer of all time in the five British Classic races.

O’Brien is planning to have up to four runners in the third British Classic of the season, which is run over 1m 4f 6y at Epsom Downs next month (Friday 3rd June).

The master of Ballydoyle is currently equal with 19th Century trainer John Scott in having saddled 40 British Classic winners and is chasing a 10th Oaks success following Shahtoush (1998), Imagine (2001), Alexandrova (2006), Was (2012), Qualify (2015), Minding (2016), Forever Together (2018), Love (2020) and Snowfall (2021).

Speaking about his potential Cazoo Oaks runners at a media day organised by The Jockey Club, O’Brien was full of praise for Tuesday, who is as short as 3-1 to win on June 3rd.

He said: “The first thing Frankie said to me about Tuesday after the 1,000 Guineas was to go for the Irish 1,000 Guineas, so we’ve left that in her program and we’ll see after that.

“She’s not a three year old until the first week in June, so what she’s doing is amazing. Looking at her in the Guineas you’d say that she’d definitely get a mile and a quarter well and is crying out to go up in trip. She’s still only a baby so at the moment we’re looking at going to the Irish Guineas with her and then we’ll go to the Oaks, much like her sister (Minding) did.

“You wouldn’t run Thoughts Of June over a mile as she’s a big mile and a half filly that stays well.

“I sent her to Chester to see how she’d handle a track like that, and really she was probably too big for Chester. She’s nearly 17 hands, but she went round the bend well and Ryan gave her a great ride. The plan at the moment is to go to Epsom.

Concert Hall is also very strong possible as is The Algarve, who goes for the Musidora first.”
