The York Placepot and an Aintree tissue guide.

A perfect example yesterday as to why you play this for fun. The dividend was £2158.70 for your £1 yesterday and you’ll never expect anyone (let alone me), to find that when sober.

I have had a good look through today’s card and having only drank coffee all morning, these are my selections:

  • LEG 1 – MIAMI GIRL (10), PILLOW TALK (12)
  • LEG 2 – GRANDE DAME (6)
  • LEG 3 – ROGUE BEAR (5)
  • LEG 5 – WILD CRUSADE (2)

NH racing at my local track Aintree this evening and in the first the only horse they are interested in is UKANTANGO 11/10 > 8/11 so a Placepot banker if you are playing that bet tonight.

CORRAN CROSS has been nibbled at all morning 9/2 > 3/1 and now favourite having taken that position from DUBLIN FOUR. That horse is not weak at all and GAELIK COAST is not being allowed to drift bigger than 9/2….the second it hits 5/1, they are in.

The winner is, according to the markets, one of this trio and a dutch produces a profit so, feel free to run that play up the flagpole.

I’d be queueing for a beer when they run the next, a four runner race which sees two making debut over hurdles….and it’s Olly Murphy’s DOMINIC’S FAULT they like best 5/4 > 5/6 with the other three drifting.

The 7-00pm is ultra competitive, 11 going to post and a few being punted, none more than Skelton’s FLASH OF STEEL, who is 25/1 > 12/1. Another for a few quid is STORMY FLIGHT 10/1 > 7/1 whilst drifters include BIG BAD BEAR 9/2 > 8/1 and DORKING BOY 11/4 > 11/2.

I think a couple of small 20/80’s that pair being punted will hopefully produce a profit.

James Ewart’s EMPIRE DE MAULDE, ridden by Brian Hughes, is strong on the tissue 9/2 > 3/1 but GET OUT THE GATE is matching that move almost £ for £….12/1 > 7/1.

Kim Bailey’s WANDRIN STAR is weak 13/2 > 12/1 and that despite the withdrawal of TILE TAPPER, who was around 6/1.

SAIL AWAY and EXELERATOR EXPRESS are rock solid second and third favourites and if you are up for the Placepot, this is a race you’ll need to cover several bases.

It does look like Ewart’s horse is “expected” though.

The 8-10pm is a four runner race in which they are backing nothing. MERRY BERRY is drifting slightly 5/4 > 6/4 but other than that I’ve not got a baldy clue as to what will happen.

An amateur riders Bumper to finish and if I were there, I’d have left long ago!

However, MACAVITY is being smashed off the boards 12/1 > 9/2 with SANTOS BLUE his danger, if money talks. Alan Hill’s runner is 8/1 > 5/1 and if betting these races for a laugh is something you do, dutch that pair.

Best of luck!
