DahlBury, an exciting new thoroughbred operation created with the mantra “Great British thoroughbreds”, is today announced as the new sponsor for next month’s Group One Coronation Cup on Ladies Day at Epsom Downs (Friday 3rd June).
DahlBury is the vision of owner and breeder Simon Davies, Chief Executive Officer of the global tele-communications firm Spectra Group (UK) Ltd. The operation’s stallion roster standing at Chapel Stud in Worcestershire includes Planteur, the sire of 2021 Cartier Champion Stayer Trueshan.
DahlBury also recently purchased Put The Kettle On, the winner of the 2021 Queen Mother Champion Chase at The Festival who has been confirmed as in foal to Planteur, for their evolving band of broodmares.
DahlBury has been created with the aim of investing in and supplying quality thoroughbreds, focusing on British bred middle distance and staying horses for both the Flat and National Hunt.
The current team of stallions is completed by the emerging Walzertakt and the recently-retired Bangkok, a Group Two winner for Andrew Balding. The DahlBury website https://dahlbury.co.uk/ is due to launch shortly.
DahlBury’s roster of sires will be on parade next January on Festival Trials Day at Cheltenham Racecourse and each of the winning breeders of horses during the two days of the Cazoo Derby will be invited to the Cotswolds venue as their guests.
The DahlBury Coronation Cup is one of the top middle-distance Flat races in the world and it will be held in a particularly important year for the Cazoo Derby, which in 2022 forms part of the official celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and is expected to be watched by millions around the world.
Staged over the same mile and a half distance as The Derby, the Coronation Cup celebrates its 120th anniversary this year, having been inaugurated in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII, The Queen’s great-grandfather.
