Perth’s sold-out Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day raises £100k for Breast Cancer Now as 2023 date confirmed

Perth Racecourse is proud to announce that the capacity crowd at its 2022 Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day helped break the £100,000 mark in funds raised for partner charity Breast Cancer Now.

For the thousands of race goers who helped raise close to £10,000 at last week’s event, there is more good news today as Perth confirmed the date for 2023 Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day – Thursday 18 May 2023. Tickets will go on pre-sale later this year.

Among other highlights at this year’s Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day were a first ever Perth appearance by Grand National winning jockey Rachael Blackmore, among a healthy field of 62 runners supporting seven races across the afternoon.

The 6,000 race goers in attendance competed for a range of fashion awards on the day – with £4,000-worth of prizes donated by local and national businesses – while savouring some 866 bottles of prosecco and 355 bottles of champagne.

Perth Racecourse chief executive Hazel Peplinski said: “How cool is it that that we have managed to reach this landmark figure for our long-standing partners and deliver so much fun to a sell-out crowd simultaneously.  We had 6000 racegoers here on Ladies Day on a cold and windy Thursday afternoon which in the current economic climate is a bit of a rarity. It is testament to the on-going loyalty of our regular Ladies Day attendees who have supported Breast Cancer Now and this annual event that they made the most of the weather and showed impressive determination to have a fabulous day regardless!

“The team at Perth Racecourse would like to thank all race goers for making the day such a success especially breaking through the £100,000 barrier for Breast Cancer Now. We already know that next year’s Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day shall be on 18th May and we shall start planning now to make it even better.

“There is no respite for the team here at Perth with our bet365 Gold Cup Day little over a fortnight away, plus a June Saturday fixture and Family Raceday both in the heart of summer to look forward to – it’s been a fantastic start to our 2023 season and even more fun lies ahead.”
