Hornets to sting the Clarets?

Two sides that have started the season well, both having an identical record of a win and a draw in two games, scoring two goals, conceding one.

the last time these sides met the games ended 2-1 to Watford but on head to head stats Burnley lead 9-4, with seven of those 20 previous matches ending as draws.

Those 20 previous matches between this pair have produced an average of 2.8 goals, with 60% of them ending BTTS so straight away I’m thinking 2-1, 1-2 or 2-2.

Obviously it’s still very early in the season and sides need to gain full match fitness but the result that impresses me most right now is the 1-0 home win by Watford and in Ismaila Sarr have a genuine Premier League player.

He was supposed to sign for Liverpool a couple of years ago and Mane even had a house picked out for him, so fair to say he’s the man Burnley will need to keep a close eye on tonight.

The problem Watford do have is they are very poor across the back line and when they played West Brom recently their ‘keeper was peppered with shots and got away with conceding only the one goal. Sarr scored a wonder goal in that game but then missed a brilliant opportunity to win the game, when he missed a penalty.

Burnley have a new manager in Vincent Company and he likes his side to keep hold of the ball. In their two games to date they have finished with 70% and 71% of the possession but that will suit the home side, who like to play on the counter.

Much is going to depend on whether Burnley can sit on Sarr and keep him quiet. If they can, I fancy them to win tonight.
