This should be a belter of a game. Spurs were impressive last weekend and Chelsea started their season off with a 1-0 win at Goodison but I’m not sure what those results actually mean yet. Southampton are going to struggle this season, as are Everton.
I look at my stats and trends and everything points to a home win. Spurs struggle like crazy against Chelsea and they lost all 4 games against them last season. In fact, Spurs have only won 7 of the 60 Prem games these 2 sides have played against each other drawing 20 and losing 33.
Spurs have also only won 1 of their last 30 visits to Chelsea’s place in the Prem.
Playing Chelsea in their first home league game might be a plus for Spurs because the home side has lost 2 and drawn 2 of their first home games in the last 7 seasons but then you look at their record last season in London away derbies and they were awful, managing to take just 1 point from the 5 games and only scoring 1 goal, too. if that keeps up Harry Kane will not be getting the 2 goals he needs to equal Aguero’s record of 184 for a single Prem club.
Chelsea were better on the road last year, getting 40 points away from home and only 34 at the Bridge.
it is going to be boiling at pitch level this afternoon and I doubt we’ll see a game like that we’d see if this was played in December/January and while I think Spurs have definitely improved bundles under Conte I have to think the stats will hold up and go for a Chelsea win, probably by the same score they beat Everton last weekend, 1-0. If they had a proper striker I’d have gone 2-0 or 3-0.
I’ll keep saying I’m not having a bet until I do have one but the scoreline pays 7/1 if you are interested.
