Villa and West Ham to fight out a stalemate?

None of the games this afternoon appeal to me but I always like working with any game the Hammers are involved in. Tomorrow they are away to Villa and they have got themselves a great record against the home side, and if they win tomorrow, it will be their 5th win on the bounce against Stevie G’s team.

Villa have only won 1 of the last 12 games against the Hammers, losing 6 and drawing 5 of the other 11.

The away side are currently struggling for form having lost their first 3 games without scoring for just the 2nd time in 50 years but after a good start at Villa, Gerrard has been struggling for wins. Villa have lost 14 of 30 since he joined them and the only sides that have lost more games in that same period are Everton (19), and West Ham (15).

The last team to lose 4 Prem games on the bounce at the start of a season without scoring, were Palace in 2017 and before that you have to go back to 1924 so, it’s unlikely to happen to West Ham. They have now lost 4 games in a row and the only time they lost 5 in a row was when Bilic was manager back in 2017. Moyes lost 6 on the bounce when Everton manager in 2005 but he has never lost to the Hammers in 12 Prem games against them so a few things in his favour tomorrow.

Villas main man is Watkins and that’s probably just as well because Ings must hate playing West Ham. He has played them 10 times in the Prem, never won and never scored.

Neither manager will want to be losing this game and I reckon everything points to a draw.
